Many adults with minor alignment issues in their teeth have turned to Invisalign to help give them the smooth and even smile they’ve always wanted. The clear, durable plastic aligners make it hard for the casual observer to even notice you’re wearing them.

The first step in being fitted for Invisalign involves a thorough inspection of your mouth. This usually involves taking some X-rays. Then you and your Orthodontics, Inc. dentist can better define your alignment goals. Then Orthodontics, Inc. will take an impression of your teeth. All of this information is sent to the Invisalign laboratory where a series of aligner trays will be produced.

In order to minimize effective treatment time, you will need to wear the Invisalign aligners for around 20 to 22 hours each day. Each set of aligners is designed to gradually stretch your periodontal ligaments anchoring your teeth, to move them a little bit closer to your ideal smile.

After two weeks you will switch to another set of aligners that are tuned a little closer to your alignment goals. The number of aligners needed will vary. Most people meet their alignment goals in the course six to eight weeks and three or four sets of aligners.

While you have the Invisalign aligners in your mouth, you can drink normally. However, you will need to remove them before eating. Avoid smoking or chewing gum while the aligners are in your mouth. When you are not wearing the Invisalign aligners, you should keep them in the case provided.

If you are interested in being fitted for Invisalign, you should call Orthodontics, Inc. at (928) 774-0881 to schedule an appointment.
